UBS Community Garden

Our community garden will tackle food insecurity by growing organic vegetables to nourish East Side residents, as well as flowers for St. Paul Church services and flowering herbs to beautify the space. Ameren Illinois has supported the project by providing free wood chips to enrich the soil. We also plan to install water barrels to collect rainwater, creating a sustainable irrigation system. Accessibility is a priority: raised beds at multiple heights will ensure that people using wheelchairs, walkers, or those unable to kneel can fully participate. Benches will provide a welcoming space for rest, recognizing the mental health benefits of time spent in nature.
