Community Health Initiative

The Community Health Initiative, hosted by St. Paul AME Church, focused on both mental and physical health, serving approximately 150 community members with the support of 31 vendors. The initiative connected individuals to mental health resources and professionals, offering health screenings, giveaways, and food sponsored by Bells’ Finest BBQ. A screening of the film Inside Out was shown for families, and a variety of fun activities for children were available. Resources on mental health and wellness were provided by organizations such as Birth to Five Illinois, Aetna Better Health of Illinois, the Community CARES Team, Sangamon Heart, and Memorial Health, while the Faith Coalition also supported the event. It was an opportunity for community members to take actionable steps toward improving both their mental and physical health, while enjoying food, entertainment, and connection.
