Healing in the Streets Block Party

UBS collaborated with St. Paul AME Church to host the Healing in the Streets Block Party, bringing together the community for a day of fun, health, and connection. Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including face painting, a firetruck tour, a Zumba exercise demonstration, double dutch, line dancing, and performances by Global Girls and Kuumba 2.0 Dancers. The event also offered free health screenings and resources from local organizations, including UIS Gender & Sexuality Student Services, Fifth Street Renaissance, and Memorial Health, which provided information on sexual health, harm reduction, and more. Additionally, Motherland Community Gardens offered resources on growing your own food and sustainability. Community organizations such as Black Lives Matter Springfield, All in One Laundry Services, Intricate Minds, and Shawn Gregory also provided valuable services and information. The block party was a celebration of community spirit and well-being, promoting health and healing in the streets.
